Toshiko's Pen Pal

Hi. My name is Toshiko Sonoda. I'm sixteen years old, and go to a Japanese highschool. I like music very very much. Especially I like American music the best.

Bianca, who is my American pen pal, likes music too. My teacher, James, introduced us two years ago. I was happy to have a foreign friend. Bianca always sends her letters with pretty stamps and she sends me presents too. She sent me a cassette tape of music she made, dolls, collages, and stickers. I sent her Japanese picture postcards and notebooks.

Bianca is learning Japanese in college, so she is interested in Japan very much. She can write hiragana and katakana and also many kanji!

Once I told Bianca that I was worried about my future, and she said, "You should do whatever makes you happy." Americans can speak their minds easily. I think that is wonderful. I have learned a lot of things from her. I am happy we became friends.
